allowance and I recommend that he should be granted such al-

-lowance at the rate of £70 per annum as from the 1st. of

next January. Should Mr. Wood, then, after a further period of

three years' service, still find himself in the same position

he could apply for an increment of another £50 to his person-

-al allowance bringing his pensionable salary up to a maximum

of £720 per annum.

I do not recommend that any in-

-crease should be made in the salary attaching to the post

of Superintendent of Accounts, Correspondence and Stores,

which I consider to be sufficiently high already: but I agree

with Mr. Chatham that Mr. Wood's case is a special one and

merits special treatment.
